Odisha chit fund scam: SIT DIG reviews progress of probe

S Bagchi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the CBI’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Odisha chit fund scam arrived here this morning.

Reliable sources said Bagchi reviewed the charge-sheet to be filed against the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group by the CBI in the chit fund scam case soon. The investigating team would give finishing touches to the charge sheet to be filed in th special CBI court here based on the consultation with Bagchi today, the sources said.

The charge sheet is likely to be filed on Monday.

Besides, he is also reported to have reviewed the status of CBI investigation into the mega chit fund scam in the Seashore Group of Companies, the sources added.

The agency filed the first charge sheet in the Odisha chit fund scam against the Green India group  of companies on Tuesday.

Coming out of the CBI office after reviewing the status of the invetigation into the chit fund case, Bagchi was tigth-lipped when asked if the probe so far had revealed any political link. “The investigation is still on,” was all he was prepared to say on the issue.

Asked whether the agency had got the necessary support from the Odisha government in terms of logisitics, the SIT DIG said; “We gave got a lot of support. We have asked for some more.”
