11 Maoists surrender in Andhra-Odisha border

Eleven Maoists including a woman cadre surrendered before the Vishakhapatnam police in Andhra Pradesh bordering Odisha’s Malkangiri district this morning.

Maoist surrenderTalking to the newsmen, SP (Rural), Vishakhapatnam, SP Koya said the 11 Maoists were the active members of Papular Divisional Committee since five years and involved in a number of violent activities including GK Wedi Mandalam firing, Kayuri firing in Andhra Pradesh and killing of two tribals of the cut-off areas in Malkangiri district.

He said that these Maoists decided to surrender as the organization deviated from its ideals.

He also said that the surrendered Maoists would be provided with all assistance as per the rehabilitation policy of the state government.
