11 minor girls rescued, two brokers held

The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Wednesday rescued 11 minor girls from Ghantikhal railway station and arrested two brokers.

The two arrested brokers have been identified as Sarita Patra of Gundichapada area of Dhenkanal town and Sahadev Sahu of Kirapatna village under Dhenkanal Sadar police station limits.

According to reports, the minor girls were being taken to Guntur in Andhra Pradesh to work there as migrant labourers.

While seven minor girls belong to Sologadia village under Athagarh police station limits of Cuttack, district the other four are from Kamakshyanagar area of Dhenkanal district.

Police later handed over the girls to the District Child Protection Cell. The district administration has informed the family of these girls about the incident.
