Bhubaneswar: Acting tough, the Odisha government suspended 11 school teachers in connection with leakage of question paper of the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examinations, an official said today.
Besides, Board of Secondary Education (BSE), which conducts the exam, also expelled some students from the examinations for their complicity in the matter, the official said.
The School and Mass Education Department took action today against the erring teachers following massive outrage over the matter.
Among the suspended staff, nine are centre superintendents and invigilators from Nuapada (5), Koraput (2) and Dhenkanal (2) districts, said Controller of Examinations, BSE, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty in press conference this afternoon.
He further informed that the headmaster and a clerk of Balia Bapuji Nodal High School have been suspended for dereliction of duty. “The District Education Officer (DEO), Dhenkanal, has lodged a police complaint against the centre superintendent of Sudarshan Vidya Bhawan High School.”
Mohanty also said that prohibitory order under Section 144 has been clamped in some sensitive examination centres across the State to avoid any untoward incidents. “If required then the centre superintendents have been authorized to ask for more force to maintain law and order during the exam.”
Earlier in the day, five teachers of Nuapada district, who were suspended and detained by the Boden police on Friday in connection with the alleged question paper leak, were arrested and forwarded to the court.
