122 students fall ill in Odisha after partaking in school feast

Baripada, Feb 1:

At least 122 students of state government-run Kanyashram at Tato in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district became sick after having food at the school’s annual function feast today.

The girls complained of vomiting and stomach pain after allegedly having the food at the feast.

Doctors and a para-medical staff from the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) at Karanjia have rushed to the school and treating the affected students.

“They had taken rice and chicken curry at the school feast. They soon complained of vomiting and stomach pain after taking the food. Doctors and other staff from CHC Karanjia are treating them. Their condition is stated to be stable,” informed Krupasindhu Behera, District Welfare Officer (DWO).

The school has 450 tribal girl students on its rolls.
