Muniguda (Rayagada), May 3:

Fifteen minor children including five girls from Muniguda area in Odsiha’s Rayagada district, who were rescued from a children’s home in New Delhi four days ago, would arrive at their native place here today.

According to reports, a woman worker of an NGO at Muniguda Sarala Sethi had sent 18 minor children from several villages under Muniguda and Chandrapur blocks to New Delhi while assuring their family of providing them with good care and quality education.

These 18 children were later sent to Avenger, a missionary organisation at Kamla Nagar in North Delhi.

However, instead of taking care of the children or their education, the organisation allegedly engaged them in household chores and tough manual jobs.

Unable to bear with the hard life there, three boys managed to escape and return to their villages to narrate the plight of the ret 15 children.

Their families later lodged a complaint with the Muniguda police and the Rayagada Child Welfare Committee.

Acting on the complaint, police detained Sethi on April 24 and based on her information, informed the Delhi Child Welfare Committee which rescued the other 15 children from the custody of the organization on April 29 .

Reports said the rescued children have already left Delhi by the Samata Express and are expected to arrive at Muniguda on Saturday afternoon.
