15 critical after vehicle carrying 35 turns turtle in Odisha

Rourkela, May 7:

As many as 35 persons were injured on Thursday afternoon when a Tata AC vehicle turned turtle at Ghurtabahal under Bisra police station in Sundargarh district of Odisha. Out of 35 persons, fifteen are reportedly critical and are now being treated at Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).

At about 4 pm on Thursday afternoon, about 35 persons loaded in a Tata AC vehicle were going from Rourkela to Dumlei in Jharkhand to attend a Sarna programme. The speeding Tata AC turned over at Ghurtabahal under Bisra police station, following which all the 35 persons who were seated in the bucket on the backside of the vehicle,were injured.

After the accident, the driver of Tata AC ran away from the spot.

Locals rushed the injured persons to Bisra hospital, from where about 15 critically injured persons were referred to the RGH. The persons who received minor injuries were discharged from Bisra hospital after primary treatment.

Police are now searching the driver of Tata AC to arrest him, Police have seized the Tata AC vehicle and are now on the lookout for the absconding driver.

“We are now searching the driver of Tata AC. He will be nabbed soon,” said S Das, IIC, Bisra Police station.
