Encouraged by the success of the Ekalavya model residential schools, the Centre has decided to set up another 191 such schools in the country. Of the 191 schools, 22 will be set up in Gujarat, 16 in Odisha, 20 in Madhya Pradesh and 16 in Chhattisgarh.
Odisha, at present, has 13 Ekalavya model residential schools.
To provide better education to tribal students, the Centre has set up 111 Ekalavya model schools in 23 states under Section 275(1) of the Constitution. These residential tribal schools will have complete infrastructure, including spacious classrooms, computers, science laboratories, recreation halls, hostels and trained teachers.
