18-year-old youth killed by friend during Diwali celebrations in Odisha

Angul:  An 18-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend following a verbal duel between the two during a feast on Diwali last evening.

The deceased has been identified as Lipu Sahu, son of Keshab Sahu of Jeranga Dehuri Sahi under Jarpada police limits in the district.

Sources said Lipu had a heated argument with his friend Shrikant Behera over some issues during a feast last evening. In a fit of rage, the latter attacked Lipu with a sharp weapon three times following which he fainted on the ground. Lipu died while being rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here by his family members.

On the other hand, accused Shrikant has surrendered before the Jarpada police and confessed to his crime.

However, no police official was available to comment on the matter.
