2 brothers drown in pond on Odisha capital outskirts

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two brothers drowned in a pond at Jena Sahi in Kakarudrapur under Balianta police limits on the outskirts of Odisha capital today.

According to reports, Soumya Ranjan and Smruti Ranjan, sons of Laxmidhar Parida of Jena Sahi and class-VI & class-IV students respectively, had gone to the pond to take bath at around 10 am.

While bathing, the younger brother slipped into water following which the elder one attempted to rescue him during which both drowned in the water body.

On being informed, fire personnel from Balipatana rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies from the pond.
