2 dead, 15 injured as bus overturns after hitting bike in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: At least two persons were killed and 15 others injured as a bus overturned after hitting a motorcycle on NH-49 near Bombay Chhak under Jharpokharia police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today.

The deceased have been identified as Satyaban Dera (37) of Rairangpur, who was travelling on the two-wheeler, and the helper of the bus.

The speeding bus turned turtle after running over the motorcycle killing Dera on the spot. The bus helper sustained grievous injuries on his leg and died after the vehicle overturned.

The injured passengers were admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Condition of one of them is stated to be critical, hospital sources said.

Tension gripped the accident spot following the incident as locals staged road blockade placing the body of Dera on road. Police have started investigation into the matter.
