2 dead, 7 injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha    

Kendrapara/Bhadrak/Cuttack: Two persons were killed and seven injured in separate road mishaps in the State today.

In Kendrapara,  a person died and seven others sustained critical injuries after a pickup van they wee travelling in had a collision with a truck on NH-5 near Tikarpanga Chhak under Marsaghai police limits in Kendrapara district early thi smorning.

The incident took place when the trio was going to work in Paradip. The injured duo was first rushed to Marsaghai community health centre (CHC) and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here after their condition worsened.

Later, irate locals later staged a road blockade by burning tyres demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. Later, police reached the spot and began an inquiry.

In a separate incident, a worker died in a road mishap in front of the Dhamara port gate today. Angry over this, locals blocked Dhamara-Basudevpur road near Balabhadrapur Chhak demanding compensation for the family of the deceasd.

In another mishap, a truck loaded with pulses fell of a bridge and plunged into a canal near Manguli Chhak in Choudwar OF Cuttack district. The truck driver and helper, who were injured in the mishap, were rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
