2 killed, 1 injured in lightning strikes in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At least two persons were killed and one injured in separate lightning strikes in Odisha on Sunday.

According to reports, one person was killed at Bhuban village under Dharmashala block of Jajpur district.

Similarly, one died and another injured at Kuninda village under Kamakhyanagar block in Dhenkanal district.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for 16 districts in Odisha till 5.30 pm.

The districts are Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Khorda, Kendrapara, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

The Met office advised people in these districts to take shelter in nearby buildings or other safety locations and avoid venturing out till 5.30 pm

Some districts will also experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, the weathermen predicted.
