2 mill owners arrested for misappropriation of govt rice worth over Rs 4 cr

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) has arrested two rice mill owners for misappropriation of government rice worth over Rs 4 crores, informed CB Special DG Bijay Kumar Sharma through Twitter today.

The arrested are identified as Dilip Agrawal of Sabitri Industries, Badachana and Pankaj Agrawal of Ganapati Industries, Bhadrak.

While Dilip is accused of non-delivery of rice worth nearly Rs 3 crores after taking paddy from Agricultural Cooperative Societies, Pankaj is accused of non-delivery of rice worth Rs 1.22 crore after taking paddy from Agricultural Cooperative Societies, said Sharma on Twitter.

FIRs were filed in this regard by Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation to whom the accused mill owners failed to deliver rice after receiving paddy.

The EOW had registered two cases and formed two teams to investigate into the matter.

The accused shall be produced before the court in due course, the official said.
