Bhubaneswar, May 25:
Around 20 cows were found from Kochuveli-Guwahati super-fast express at Bhubaneswar railway station last evening after activists of Bajrang Dal detained two persons and thrashed them alleging that they were transporting the animals illegally in the parcel bogie of the train.
While the activists handed over the duo to police, three others including a veterinary doctor fled the spot in fear, reports said.
However, the cows were being transported to a dairy farm, the duo said.
According to reports, after getting information about the cattle being transported from Tamil Nadu to Shillong in the train, the Bajrang Dal activists waited for the express to arrive at Bhubaneswar railway station.
As the train halted at platform no. 2 of the station at around 8.50 pm, the activists entered into the parcel bogie and spotted the cows inside it.
Tension gripped the spot as they beat two persons accompanying the cattle.
GRP and RPF officials rushed to the spot, detained the two persons and rescued the cows following which normalcy was restored.
