26-day-old baby, 99-year-old man beat COVID-19 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In what could be termed as instances of hope amid the gloomy COVID-19 situation, a 26-day-old baby and a 99-year-old man have recovered from the disease in Odisha.

According to reports, the baby of Sadar area in Nuapada district was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital due to illness. The infant had tested positive for COVID-19 at the hospital and was undergoing treatment at the SNCU of the healthcare facility from May 12.

After seven days of treatment, the infant recovered from COVID-19 and was discharged. The baby’s mother had earlier tested positive for the virus.

On the other hand, Muralidhar Das, a 99-year-old man and resident of Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneswar, has defeated COVID-19 despite having comorbidities.

The nonagenarian had tested COVID positive on May 9 and was admitted to the SUM COVID Hospital in the city for treatment.

He was also suffering from Parkinson’s disease, hypertension and diabetes. The elderly man was unable to talk properly after contracting the virus.

The patient managed to beat the deadly virus and was discharged from the hospital, yesterday.
