Sundargarh: Police have arrested three miscreants for allegedly abducting a government school teacher and demanding ransom from his wife in Sundargarh district of Odisha here today. The victim was identified as Sarbeswar Das, headmaster of Brahmanmara High School within Kinjirkela police limits of the district. He was later rescued from a jungle in Joranda area of Chhattisgarh. Besides arresting three of the accused and recovering two guns, police have also seized the vehicle, a Scorpio bearing Chhattisgarh registration number - CG13AG9108.
As per reports, Sarbeswar was returning from school when the accused approached him in an SUV on the pretext of offering a lift. Before he could respond, they immediately shoved him into the vehicle and sped away. The kidnappers then reportedly made him call up his wife and demanded Rs 1 lakh ransom for his release.
As his wife complied, police on getting information, followed her in two teams and tracked the location of the victim. They reached the spot and before the miscreants could escape, the cops caught hold of three of them while rescuing the victim.
Confirming the turn of events and the arrest, official sources said three persons have been arrested in this connection. The vehicle along with two guns have been recovered from their possession. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
