3 dead, 1 more injured after motorcycle collides head-on with pick-up van

Chhendipada: In a tragic road mishap, two persons were killed on the spot and two others sustained grievous injuries as a motorcycle on which they were traveling had a head-on collision with a pick-up van on NH-55 near Samantarapur village under Jarapada police limits in Angul, today afternoon.

Meanwhile, one injured person who was undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital has succumbed. Identities of the three deceased have not been ascertained yet, a senior police official said.

According to an eyewitness, the four bike-borne youths were on their way from Badakera locality to Jarapada at around 3.30 pm when they met with an accident. The van (bearing registration number OD-19 Q-5052) was confronted with the ill-fated motorcycle leading to untimely deaths.

The injured youths were rescued by some local residents and with the help of police rushed to Angul district headquarters hospital (DHH) in critical condition for treatment. However, one of the injured could not be saved despite attempts, a doctor treating at the health facility expressed.
