3 killed as SUV hits bike in Odisha’s Bolangir

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three persons were killed in a mishap on Loisingha-Bharasuja road near Karkachia Square in Bolangir district of Odisha today.

The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Patel of Rota, his brother-in-law Tulsiram Patel of Sadeipali and Suranjan Patel of Kusanga, police said.

The mishap tool place when the trio was on their way to Bolangir from Rota village on a bike, sources said.

The trio sustained critical injuries when a speeding SUV hit their bike from the front near Karkachia Square. The locals along with a few employees of the Electricity department rescued the trio and rushed them to a nearby hospital. However, the doctors declared them dead-on-arrival, sources said.

Soon after the mishap, the locals ransacked the SUV and thrashed its driver.

On being informed, the Loisingha Police reached the spot and launched a probe. “We have seized the SUV and detained the driver,” said a police officer.
