3 picnickers die, 7 critical after truck hits bus in Odisha

Balugaon: Three picnickers and seven more sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck hit a stationary bus in Balugaon area in wee hours of Saturday.

The deceased persons have been identified as Loi Das, Ganga Maharana and Asit Behera, all are from Ganjam district.

According to reports, the incident took place at around 2.30 am when a truck hit the picnic bus parked at Belapada Chhak on NH-16 in Balugaon area.

On receiving information, a team of fire services personnel reached the spot and rescued 19 picnickers from the bus. While two died on the spot, eight were rushed to the Balugaon Community Health Centre where one succumbed to injuries. The doctors referred seven injured persons to the MKCG Hospital in Berhampur.
