3000 kg ganja seized from truck in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Around 3000 kg of ganja being transported in a truck was seized by police at Machakunda in Lamtaput block of Odisha’s Koraput district last night.

The price of the seized contraband was estimated to be Rs 1.5 crore. The ganja was being smuggled to a neighbouring state, sources said.

According to reports, the truck was intercepted by police over its high speed. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the spot while the truck was seized and brought to the police station, where the ganja was found during search of the vehicle.

Involvement of a racket is suspected behind the smuggling. Investigation into the matter is underway and efforts are on to ban the driver.
