36 students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Odisha’s Sundargarh test COVID positive

Sundargarh: As many as 36 students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya located at Zinc Nagar in Odisha’s Sundargarh district have tested positive for COVID-19, sources said.

The infectees are currently under home isolation.

According to reports, a total of 15 students of the educational institution underwent COVID-19 antigen test yesterday morning at Sargipali Community Health Centre while nine of them tested positive for the virus.

Later, a team of the Health Department reached the school to conduct COVID-19 test of all students.

On the other hand, Odisha registered a massive spike in daily COVID-19 cases today as the figure crosses 1K mark and reached 1216, with almost a double-fold increase as the number was 680 yesterday.

The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) stood at 1.76% while a total of 68,878 samples were tested in the state, yesterday.

Out of the 1216 cases, including 187 children below 18 years of age, 710 were detected in quarantine while 506 are local contact cases.

Khurda district reported highest 456 fresh infections, followed by Sundargarh (166) and Sambalpur (99).

With this, the COVID-19 tally in the state reached 1057876 with 3981 active cases.
