3rd Odisha State Tele Awards ceremony

The popular serial ‘Badhu’ has been awarded as the best television serial in a star-studded Odisha State Tele Awards ceremony, on Sunday in Bhubaneswar.

The third television awards were given by Culture Department and Odisha Sangeet Natak in a glittering ceremony in Rabindra Mandap in the capital.
The serial ‘Badhu’ which won 6 awards is Sarthak TV’s Odia soap opera. The popular mega serial is based on the struggles of a modern girl with traditional beliefs, who cannot become a mother. As a compromise she gets married to a widower with children and tries to fill in the void of another woman in their lives.
Santosh Kumar Biswal got the Best Director Award while Sukant Rath and Madhusmita Pradhan won the Best Actor and Best Actress Awards respectively.
Best producer was Saubhagya Lakshmi Jena and Jharna Patnaik was given the best story writer award.
While, Bhawan Behera of ‘Rajkanya’ Tv serial fame, has been awarded as the best character artist, Saroj Kumar Nanda, actor in ‘Bada Ghar Bada Gumar Khatha’ has been judged as the best villain.
The Odisha Tele Awards was started to encourage high technical standard in Odia television’s teleserials and telefilms was given in 20 categories including five special jury awards.

Producer and director Gayatri Tripathy was felicitated at the event for ‘Charchita’ which as was adjudged as the Best Telefilm in 2014.

Culture minister Ashok Panda, Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani, actor-politician Akash Das Nayak and Bhubaneswar Central MLA Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, among others were present in the ceremony.
