4 killed as car rams into tree in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: At least four persons died and another sustained critical injuries after a car in which they were travelling dashed into a roadside tree near Saradhapur under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district late last night.

According to reports, the accident took place around 2 am while the five victims were returning home after attending Satsang, a religious programme, at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.

The driver of the car lost control over the wheels following which it rammed into a roadside tree killing four persons on the spot and grievously injuring another.

The deceased have been identified as Kalpataru Tirthabasi Parida, Principal of Odisha School of Mining and Engineering, Chaitanya Bikash Sahu, Vice-principal of Gayatri College, Prashant Patra, an employee of BSNL and Rajesh Kumar Guru of Kendrapara.

On being informed, police and Fire personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies from the car using gas cutter as the vehicle was mangled under the impact of the collision.

Driver Kamalakhya Parida, son of Kalpataru Tirthabasi Parida who got injured in the accident, has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
