4-year-old girl ‘raped’ in Odisha; probe begins

Balasore: In yet another shameful incident of minor girls being sexually harassed in Odisha, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Singla police station area of Balasore district.

The incident which had occurred on August 17 came to fore after grandfather of the minor lodged a written complaint at Singla police station today.

As per the complaint, a youth of the same village called the girl to his house on the fateful day and raped her. After the girl narrated her ordeal before her family members, the latter brought the matter to the notice of the village committee. As the village committed did not take any action, the family turned up at police station seeking justice.

The police registered a case in this connection, began investigation and launched a manhunt to nab the absconding accused.  Besides, the girl was sent to hospital for medical examination, sources said.

However, police officials could not be contacted to comment on the matter.
