4273 cyber crime registered in Odisha in 3 years

Bhubaneswar: The number of cyber crime is constantly increasing in the state in the last three years with total 4273 cases registered during the period, informed Home Minister (MoS) Dibya Shankar Mishra informed the House during the ongoing Budget Session today.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, the Minister said 867 cyber crime were registered in 2018, 1475 in 2019 and 1931 in 2020.

Of the total cases, 1319 were related to cyber crime against women and 2704 were cyber fraud. While 974 persons, including 11 women have been arrested in connection with the ceases, one of them was convicted by court.

The Minister further informed that three new cyber crime police stations have been set up in Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela and proposal is being moved to the Government for establishment of more police stations for cybercrime in each district.
