48-hr bandh paralyses life in Odisha’s Patnagarh sub division

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Patnagarh, Sep 18:

Normal life was thrown out of gear in Patnagarh subdivision of Odisha’s Balangir district today following a 48-hour bandh call given by local journalists demanding a permanent solution to the problems in availability of health services and appointment of doctors in the subdivision.

All shops, commercial establishments, offices, both government and private, schools and colleges remained closed from 6 am in response to the 48 hour bandh call. Vehicles remained off the roads.

Local MLA and BJP state president KV Singhdeo has extended his support to the bandh call. Singhdeo said the demand was justified and he supports it.

“Is it not the duty of the government to provide health services to the people,” he questioned.

The subdivision’s journalists gave the 48 hour bandh call after their mass dharna for over a week failed to yield any results. The mass dharna by the subdivision’s journalists entered its 11th day today.

The bandh has received support from all sections of the society in the subdivision.
