5-year-old girl knocked to death by truck in Odisha; grandmother injured

In a tragic incident, a five-year-old girl died and her grandmother sustained injuries after they were hit by a truck on NH-16 near Rasulpur in Jajpur district of Odisha today.

The deceased was identified as Adyasha Das, daughter of Jagabandhu Das of Jukandibandha village under Panikoili police limits and a student of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir at Rasulpur.

According to reports, a speeding truck hit Adyasha and her grandmother this morning when both were crossing road.

While the girl died on the spot, her grandmother was grievously injured and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Tension gripped the spot following the incident as irate locals staged road blockade demanding construction of a flyover at the spot to avoid accidents.

On being informed, police recahed the spot and pacified the locals.

The body was seized by police and sent for post-mortem.
