52 died in cyclone ‘Titli’, damage estimated at Rs 2200 cr: Odisha CS

Bhubaneswar: At least 52 persons have died in Odisha due to landslides & drowning during cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ and subsequent flood while 10 more cases are being verified, said Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today after a review meeting over damage assessment, relief and restoration work.

As many as 39 persons died in Gajapati, 12 died in Ganjam and one in Kandhamal, official sources said.

The Chief Secretary said that the overall damage has been estimated at Rs 2200 crore in three districts (Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada). Road damage has been estimated at Rs 500 crore, electricity infrastructure damage at 133 crore, houses damage at 150 crore and crop damage at 233 crore.

A final report regarding the damage will be prepared within two days and assistance will be sought from the Centre accordingly, he said.
