52nd Mines Safety week celebrated in Odisha

Barbil, Feb 9:

The 52nd Annual Mines Safety Week celebrated at the Jilling-Langalota Mines of Essel Mining and Industries Limited culminated on Sunday evening.

Among those present on the occasion were the Director General Mines Safety, Govt. of India. Mr. P.Ranganatheeswar, Deputy Director General, Mines Safety, North-East India, who hoisted the safety flag and lighted the safety flame.

After cutting ribbon of the main pavilion, the guests visited safety related stalls put up by Unchabali Iron Mines, Kiriburu Iron Mines, Meghahatuburu Iron Mines, Bolani Iron Mines, Essel Mining, Sarda Mines, Rungta Mines, Gua Iron Mines, Jindal Iron Mines and Tata OMQ.
The meeting started with a welcome song by EMIL-DAV School students, followed by a splendid performance of Bande Utkal Janani by Alive Creations, Bhubaneswar. Mr Satis Kumar, Director Mines Safety and Chairman, Annual Mining Safety Week Celebration Committee, Mr S Bharti and Mr B B Satiar, both DDMS Mines Safety, Mr.MK Malvia, DMS (Electrical), Mr. Manish Murkute, DMS, Ranchi, Mr. RL Mohanty, President, EZMA, Mr PK Panda, President and Unit Head, EMIL were the Guests of honour. A Souvenir was also released on the occasion.

Altogether 85 mines participated in the programme and prizes were awarded in 12 categories. While Meghahatuburu Iron Mines of SAIL got the 1st Prize for overall performance in A1 Mechanized Iron Ore Group, Koira Iron Mines of EMIL got 1st Prize in Group A2 Mechanized Iron Mines. Patbeda Iron Mines of MGM Group got 1st Prize in Group A3 Mechanized Iron Mines and Lanjiberna Limestone Mines of OCL got 1st Prize in Group A Mechanized Limestone and Dolomite Mines.

At the end of the programme, a spectacular cultural programme was performed by famous singer Ms Susmita Das and team. Tata Steel Noamundi was handed over with the Safety Flag, who will host the programme next year.

Mr. Ravindra Sathe, Sr. VP, Operations and Mr. Ajit Kumar Patra, Mine Manager of EMIL organised the programme.
