55 candidates remain in fray for Ranpur NAC polls in Odisha

A total of 55 candidates remain in the fray for the 15-ward Ranpur NAC elections in Odisha’s Nayagarh district scheduled on May 5.

The final list of candidates was announced after the withdrawal of nomination papers by one candidate on the last day on Thursday.

The counting of votes would be held on May 6 and the results would be announced the same day.

The Ranpur NAC is composed of 15 wards with a population of 9969 of which 5300 are men and 4669 are women.

It may be remembered that the elections to the Ranpur, which was to have been held along with polls for eight other urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state on April 7, had to be cancelled after it emerged that there were inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the reservation of wards on the basis of caste.
