6 killed, 4 critical as truck overturns in Odisha

Bhawanipatna, Feb 18:

In a tragic incident, six persons, including two women, were killed and four others sustained critical injuries as a truck overturned and fell on them at Ambapani Ghat in Odisha’s Kalahandi district today.

The injured were admitted to Kokasara hospital and two of them were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Bhawanipatna as their condition deteriorated.

The deceased and the injured ones were identified as labourers.

According to reports, the mishap took place when an iron plate-laden truck lost balance and turned turtle while it was on the way to Nabarangpur from Bhawanipatna.

The goods truck fell on the labourers going alongside the vehicle killing six of them on the spot and grievously injuring four others.

On being informed, police reached the spot and carried rescue operation.

The driver and helper of the truck fled the spot soon after the accident.

It was yet to be ascertained whether the truck had fitness certificate or not.
