6-member BJP panel to probe role of Odisha administration in Kandhamal bypoll

The Odisha BJP has constituted a six-member committee to inquire into the role of state administration, Asha workers and Anganawadi workers in the Kandhamal Parliamentary by-election.

The party, which smelled the involvement of officials in influencing the voters to cast their votes in favour of ruling BJD, would submit the inquiry report to the Prime Minister, said a press release issued by the party here today.

The committee would also inquire as to how the state government is hijacking funds made available by the Central government and looting it, besides using in elections. The committee would be headed by senior BJP leader Samir Mohanty, said the release.

A decision was also taken at the office bearers’ meeting here chaired by party vice-president Samir Dey to launch its ambitious membership drive aiming to induct 40 lakh members in the party from November 1.

The party has decided to form committees in each booth of the state for the purpose, the release said.
