60% polling in 9 booths by 4 PM

About 60 percent polling was recorded by 4 PM across in the nine Odisha booths that went for repolling today, sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) said.

The voter turnout which was relatively low till noon due to the intense heat factor, picked up in the afternoon session as people queued up in large numbers to cast their votes.

The exact polling rate would be known later in the evening, CEO Dr Mona Sharma said.

The Election Commission had ordered repolling in six booths of the Niali Assembly constituency in Cuttack district, one each at Telkoi and Ghasipura blocks in Keonjhar district and the other at Aul in Kendrapara district where there were multiple complaints of rigging during the second phase polls on April 17.
