70-year-old man mowed down by SUV in Ganjam; locals block NH

Bhanjanagar: Tension prevailed near Mujagad in Ganjam district after a 70-year-old man was run over by a SUV on Bhanjanagar-Kandhamalon NH-59 this morning.

The incident took place when the elderly man identified as Kashinath Nayak of Mujagad village was walking on the national highway, the vehicle mowed him down killing him o the spot.

Irate over the incident, hundreds of villagers reached the spot and staged a road blockade at Mujagad Chhak demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and were trying to pacify the angry local till last reports came in.
