75.61% students clear Odisha HSC exams

About 75.61 percent students in Odisha passed this year’s annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations, the results of which were announced this morning.BSE Odisha

Announcing the results at a press briefing at the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) office here, president of the Board Dakshya Prasad Nanda said out of a total of 601882 candidates, 455094 have cleared the examinations.

The BSE president said  79.69 percent of boys and 77.78 percent of girls have passed the examinations.

Stating that the Board from this year has introduced gradation system, Nanda said a total of 387 candidates have secured A-1 grade with about 90 percent marks in aggregate.

While 7046 students have passed in A-2 grade, 20,417 have passed in B1, 64786 in B2, 103837 in C, 134,735 in D and 89,103 in E grade, he said

Earlier, in her address, School and Mass Education secretary Usha Padhee congratulated the BSE staff, police and the media for the smooth conduct of the examinations.

She also praised the students for successfully adapting themselves to the new examination format.

Giving the district-wise results, the BSE president said while Deogarh district has topped the pass rate with 80.03 percent, Malkangiri district has the lowest pass rate with 34.4 percent.

Giving a district-wise pass percentage, Nanda said  Angul has recorded 57.48 pass rate followed by Nayagarh-56.82, Puri-57.10, Khordha-59.32, Gajapati-66.13, Kandhamal-59.09, Koraput-58.23, Rayagada-48.53, Nabarangpur-65.07, Jeypore-70.36, Kendrapara-59.63, Bhadrak-59.84, Ganjam-54.72, Boudh-62.92, Baleswar-77.94, Nuapada-72.86, Bargarh-54.59, Sambalpur-47.63, Bolangir-67.70, Jharsuguda-48.43, Cuttack-67.65, Subarnapur-51.97, Kalahandi-71.10, Sundargarh-64.63, Dhenkanal-68.14, Keonjhar-62.92 and Jagatsinghpur-59.15.

He also informed that while 434 schools have achieved 100 percent results, there have been nil results in 25 schools.

In the Regular stream, 428347 out of a total of 544240 students have passed the examinations with the pass percentage of 78.95.

In the Ex-Regular stream, out of a total of 48338 candidates, 23827 have cleared the examinations with a pass percentage of 50.09.

In the Correspondence Course (CC) Regular stream, 2407 out of a total of 8196 have passed the examinations with a pass percentage of 29.54.

In the CC Ex-Regular stream, 519 out of a total of 1108 candidates have passed the examinations with the pass percentage of 48.01, Nanda informed.

3327 students were booked for malpractice during the examinations, he said.

Students from 8439 high schools in Odisha had appeared in 2737 examination centres, he added.

Nanda also informed that none of the examination centres was cancelled as the examinations went on smoothly in these centres.

He said the Board has decided to conduct supplementary examinations on May 30 and announce the results by the first week of July to ensure that the students will not lose a whole academic year.
