At least eight persons were arrested today for demonstrating near coal mines and allegedly stalling mining operations of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) in Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district, police said.

SDPO Talcher Saroj Rout said the arrests were made under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) and provisions of IPC as mining operations were hit in the area.
