88 Maoist supporters surrender in Odisha’s Malkangiri

It has come as a huge blow to the Maoist movement in the state as at least 88 Maoist supporters today surrendered to the police, on a day when the members of the outlawed group are observing bandh in Odisha’s Malkangiri district in protest against ‘fake surrenders’.

The Maoist supporters from Badaliguda, including 10 militia and one village committee member, surrendered to the police at the district headquarters here post noon in the presence of SP Mitrabhyanu Mohapatra.

So far, over 700 Maoist supporters have surrendered to police in less than a month and over 40 Maoists have surrendered to the police in the district this year.
