Bhubaneswar, Oct 1:

Secretary of the Odisha Cricket Association Ashirbad Behera on Monday said that the outcome of the annual general meeting of the BCCI which, for the first time, entrusted responsibility to nine OCA members in its committees including the IPL chairman post, is a great Dussehra gift for the cricket lovers of Odisha.

“With the OCA president Ranjib Biswal appointed as IPL chairman, we will request him to take steps to arrange some IPL matches at Barabti Stadium”, Behera told reporters after his arrival in the city here.

Revealing the proceedings at the BCCI meeting, the OCA secretary said Biswal’s promotion in the BCCI ladder was opposed by the Bengal officials. Biswal was earlier tipped for the treasurer’s post which went to Anirudh Chaudhary of Haryana, he added.

A former off-spinning all-rounder for the state, Biswal has played 41 first class matches, scoring 2170 runs with an average of 40.18 and taking 153 wickets at 23.83.
