Puri: A piece of lime plaster, weighing around 1.5 kg, reportedly rolled down from the sanctum sanctorum of Puri Srimandir two days ago.

However, there was no harm to the idols of the presiding deities, sources said.

Though the temple administration has not provided any information in this regard, some sources claimed that a piece of stone had fallen from the temple structure.

Srimandir Superintending Engineer Naresh Chandra Rout said, “A piece of lime plaster had fallen from the temple structure a few days ago. This is not a big issue.”

Sources from the 12^th century shrine, meanwhile, revealed that a special lime plaster has been applied on the temple structure as part of the preservation work.
