AAC-2017: Witness the unbelievable transformation of Odisha’s Kalinga Stadium in this video

Bhubaneswar: Merely three months ago, the Odisha government was asked to host the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships 2017 (AAC) in its capital city Bhubaneswar.

Realising a mammoth task at hand, the state government rose to the occasion and took up the ’90-Day challenge’ to transform the Kalinga Stadium here for the international sporting event within three months.

With a complete international makeover, the stadium is now studded with Olympic-level synthetic track, latest player facilities, state-of-the-art lighting systems, practice ground and tracks and spectator arrangements.

Taking to Facebook and sharing the video, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the departments and officials involved in the process.

“Odisha 2017 is going to be the biggest in AAC history.Odisha is ready and raring to provide the best to the Best of Asia. It is a matter of immense pride for the people of Odisha that the AAC 2017 is being hosted in our capital city Bhubaneswar,” Patnaik wrote in the Facebook post.

Notably, the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships is scheduled to be held at the Kalinga Stadium here from July 6 to 9.

More than 700 athletes from around 45 countries would participate in 42 events— 21 for men and 21 for women.

The 22nd edition of Asia’s flagship Athletics meet is also going to be its biggest ever, which will be a qualifying event for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in London.
