Bhubaneswar, Jan 10:
The Odisha unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday launched its ‘Mein Bhi Hun Aam Aadmi Abhiyan’ campaign in the state with a revised target of enrolling 3 lakh members by January 26. The initial target was 1 lakh.
Following the massive support of voters in Delhi, which helped the one year old party form a minority government to implement its ambitious agenda of anti-corruption and pro-people policies, there has been a rise of support for the party across the country, said state convener, AAP Nishikant Mohapatra.
Stating that the party is not yet organizationally equipped to deal with the massive increase in the number of people seeking membership in every part of the country, AAP has decided to launch this special drive in every state to enrol at least 1 crore members, Mohapatra said.
“Now, any member of Aam Aadmi Party can initiate membership drive in his or her locality without waiting for permission or membership form any source. S/he will have to simply download the form online and start the membership drive in his locality,” the AAP leader said.
As the general election is getting nearer, the party needs massive mobilization and support in cash and time, said Mohapatra, appealing to each and every person to join this national movement against corruption and mal-administration. People from different political parties, movements, professional groups and other sectors are welcome to join AAP, he said.
As of now, more than 40,000 members have enrolled with the party across the state, he added.
