Absconding undertrial prisoner nabbed in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: An undertrial prisoner (UTP) who had absconded from the premises of Keonjhar Additional District and Sessions Judge Court recently was arrested by the Town police today.

The UTP identified as Krishna Lohar is a resident of Gambharia village of the district. Sources said the Town police nabbed Krishna when he was hiding in a school near the village this morning.

On May 1, Krishna had escaped while he was being taken along with other accused to be produced before the ADJ court. He was arrested on July 3 last year in connection with the rape of a minor girl. Besides, two police officials were also suspended in this case.

“Action would be taken against the UTP for absconding from the court premises. Probe is underway to know where the accused had been hiding for the last couple of days. Besides, two of his associates have been detained by the cops,” said Town Police Station IIC Somnath Jena.
