Acid attack on 22-year old lady, hospitalized

A 22-year old woman suffered serious burn injuries when an unidentified man threw acid on her on late Thursday night at Naupada village under Rajnagar police station in Kendrapara district.

Critically injured woman was shifted to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack. She was admitted to the casualty department and later shifted to special burn ward, doctors said. At least 40 per cent of her body has been burnt, they added.

Rajnagar police are yet to trace the accused even as a complaint has been registered by the victim’s family. One sided love affair is stated to be the reason behind the gruesome act.

Sources said the incident took place at around 2 pm on Thursday night while the woman was asleep in her room. The accused allegedly threw the acid through the windows of her bed room and fled the spot, sources added.

The family members admitted her to a local health centre and later shifted to Cuttack when her condition worsened.(PTI)
