Additional Tahasildar in Odisha arrested on graft charge

Sambalpur: The State Vigilance arrested Additional Tahasildar Sarada Maharana while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1.2 lakh from a complainant to reduce the penalty for release of his vehicle.

Vigilance official sources said on basis of a complaint, a trap was laid at Maharana’s office at Kuchinda Tahasil office in Sambalpur district today. While demanding and accepting the bribe amount, the Additional Tahasildar was caught red-handed.

The Vigilance officials recovered and seized the bribe amount from Maharana. They also recovered Rs 3,03,610 cash during searches at the Additional Tahasildar’s different places at Kuchinda.

In this connection, the Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.18 dt.06.05.2022 U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.

Investigation against the Additional Tahasildar is underway.
