Advocate arrested for producing fake court order copy in Odisha

Sambalpur: Producing fake court order copy proved costly for an advocate after the Jujumura Police of Sambalpur district arrested him on charges of cheating and forgery.

Reportedly, advocate Brajamohan Pradhan produced a fake court order copy and submitted it in Jujumura police station to release a truck detained by the cops following a road mishap on February 19.

Police sources said on February 19, one Prem Kumar of Ichhapalli village was killed after his scooter  was hit by a truck at Military Square near Basiapada on NH-55. In this connection, police had registered a cases under Sections 297 and 304 of IPC, seized the truck and arrested driver Rajesh Singh.

To release  the truck, vehicle owner contacted advocate Brajamohan of Bada Turang village seeking his help. The advocate produced a fake order copy of SDJM court with duplicate signature and stamp and and submitted it in the police station.

Seeing the order copy, the police suspected it to be forged and enquired it with the court officials. Later, the police found the order copy fake and arrested the advocate under Sections 420 and 466 of IPC.

The accused was produced before the court and later sent to jail as the court rejected his  bail plea.

A similar complaint has been lodged with Sambalpur Town police and involvement of the accused advocate is suspected in this case, police sources said.
