After ‘Mo Bus’, ‘Mo Cycle’ ready to roll on roads in Odisha capital
Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited ‘Mo Cycle’, a Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) project, would be launched in Odisha capital on November 26, two days ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the project here, informed Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Vice-Chairman Krishan Kumar.
As many as 100 bicycles will be available for the first phase. These bicycles will be kept at 120 points across the city, Kumar added.
He further said that the residents can avail the facility by paying Rs 100 per month.
The cycles will be digitally mapped based on global positioning system (GPS) locations. The project will provide mobile app based services to users to locate and use a bicycle.
Aiming to promote green mode of transport for the residents and visitors coming to the city, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) has procured around 2,000 cycles from Hexi Bikes, a product of Hero Cycles will have 1,000 cycles under the PBS, Yaana and Yulu will have 500 each.
As the cycles have low-frame structure, even the women wearing ‘sarees’ can also ride them.
The bicycles will also be fitted with smart locks, which can be opened through mobile application by the users.
