After Padma Vibhusan Raghunath Mohapatra, his two sons die in 2 days

Bhubaneswar: COVID-19 turned out to be the cruelest for the family of eminent sculptor Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra as the virus claimed lives of him and his two sons in just 12 days.

While Raghunath and his son Prashant died on May 9 and May 19, respectively, his eldest son Jashobant succumbed to the virus at around 1 PM today. He was 52.

Last night, his condition worsened and he was shifted to SUM COVID Hospital from AIIMS here. “Jashobanta was shifted to the SUM COVID Hospital yesterday in a critical stat. He passed away today in spite of all efforts of the medical team,” said hospital sources.

Raghunath and his two sons — Prashant and Jashobant — were admitted to AIIMS here for COVID-19 treatment on April 22. On April 25, Raghunath was shifted to ICU of the AIIMS. On May 9, 2021, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment. He was 78.
