After rain, bone-chilling winter to grip Odisha from Jan 5

Bhubaneswar: As the rain is in forecast for interior districts in Odisha for next two days, the bone-chilling winter will return to the state from January 5.

After disappearance of cloud in the sky, the cold wave will again hit Odisha with decline of mercury from January 5, said Bhubaneswar MeT Duty Officer Charan Behera.

As the New Year brought rain for several places in Odisha yesterday, the cold wave condition across the declined significantly. Except Keonjhar, most of the places in the state stood above 10 degree Celsius in past 24 hours.

While Koraput received 3.2 mm rainfall, Paradip registered 1.9 mm, Puri 1.5 mm, Chandbali 4.8 mm and Gopalpur 0.6 mm rainfall on Wednesday.

The IMD predicted light to moderate thundershower for some places in interior region and one or two places in coastal districts in next 24 hours.

While yellow warning (heavy rainfall) has been issued for three districts — Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda, eight districts include Deogarh, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda may witness thunderstorm and lightning in next two days.

Afterwards, the weather is likely to be dry and cold wave may return to keep entire Odisha shivering.
