Bhubaneswar/Hyderabad: A day after the Serum Institute of India (SII) reduced its Covid-19 vaccine price for States, another vaccine manufacturer in the country followed the suit and revised its Covid vaccine price.
In a media statement, Bharat Biotech, which manufactures ‘Covaxin’, stated the price of its Covid-19 vaccine has been reduced for the State governments to Rs 400 per dose.
Earlier, Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech fixed the price of its Covaxin vaccine at Rs 600 per dose for State governments. Private hospitals will have to pay Rs 1,200 per dose of ‘Covaxin’, the vaccine manufacturer stated.
Yesterday, the Serum Institute reduced the price of its Covid-19 vaccine – ‘Covishield’ to Rs 300 per dose from Rs 400 for States.
The Central government is purchasing the vaccines at a rate of Rs 150 per dose.
Currently, the Bharat Biotech and the Serum Institute have been manufacturing Covid vaccines in the country.
